With millions of people working from home due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, the use of digital technology provides a safe and easy way for everyone to stay in touch. However, too much screen time can affect eye health.
What causes digital eye strain?
Digital eye strain may result in eye fatigue, headaches, dry eyes, double vision and other uncomfortable symptoms. This strain is caused by the harmful blue-violet rays that are emitted from the back-lit screens from devices such as laptops, smartphones and tablets.
This cumulative and constant exposure to the blue-violet light over time has the potential to cause serious damage to the retinal cells, which may gradually lead to retinal cell death, and can in turn lead to AMD: age-related macular degeneration.
Stop blue-light eye strain
Dr. Brad Brocwell recommends to “take frequent breaks from your screen for 10 minutes each hour. Look at something in the distance to disconnect from your device.”
Platinum Blue Anti-Glare Lenses also protect your eyes from the harmful blue light transmitted from iPhones, Androids, iPads, tablets, laptops and desktop computers.
Stanton Optical’s Platinum Blue Anti-Glare Lenses limit the amount of harmful blue light reaching the eye. Platinum Blue Anti-Glare Lenses are scratch, glare, smudge, water, and dust resistant in addition to filtering blue light, two benefits in one.
